What the symptom checker does
Daktalink’s AI symptom checker helps you organise what you feel into a structured conversation: onset, severity, related signs, and context that matters in Nigeria (for example fever patterns, travel, pregnancy, or known long-term conditions when you share them). It then suggests possible everyday explanations and practical next steps — such as home care, a pharmacy visit, a clinic appointment, or urgent/emergency care when red flags appear.
Results are educational guidance only. They are not a lab result, not a doctor’s diagnosis, and not a prescription.
Who should use it
- Adults who want structured questions before deciding where to seek care
- Caregivers helping a family member describe symptoms more clearly
- People comparing “watch at home” versus “see a clinician soon”
- Anyone preparing notes before a pharmacy, hospital, or telemedicine visit
Parents or guardians should supervise use for children. If you are unsure whether symptoms are urgent, treat them as urgent and seek real-world care.
How it works
- Sign in — keeps your check private on your account and lets you return to history where enabled.
- Describe what you feel — typing or voice where supported; answer follow-up questions as accurately as you can.
- Review guidance — see possible considerations, caution signs, and suggested next steps.
- Take action — open health education topics, find nearby facilities, or request a non-emergency doctor consult when available.
What it cannot do
- Cannot diagnose disease or replace a physical examination
- Cannot order lab tests, imaging, or imaging reports on its own
- Cannot prescribe medicines or guarantee that any condition list is complete
- Cannot replace emergency services, ambulance care, or labour-ward care
- Cannot guarantee a doctor will be available immediately for follow-up
Privacy and safety
Symptom checks require an account so your responses stay tied to your login rather than a public guest form. Daktalink handles health-related information under our Privacy Policy and Terms. Share only what you are comfortable sharing. Do not enter another person’s private details without their permission.
Safety checks highlight possible emergencies, but you remain responsible for seeking urgent care when something feels wrong — even if the tool does not mention an emergency.
Pricing and payment expectations
Creating an account and using the core symptom checker for educational guidance is designed to be available on Daktalink’s standard patient access. Some related tools (for example paid telemedicine consultations, or premium features when enabled) may require an active plan or a separate consult fee. You will see clear prompts before any payment is taken. Facility visits, pharmacy purchases, and hospital bills are paid directly to those providers — not through this checker.
When emergency care is necessary
Stop using online tools and seek emergency help immediately if you or someone else has, for example:
- Severe chest pain, sudden weakness or speech difficulty, seizure, or fainting
- Trouble breathing, blue lips, or severe allergic reaction
- Uncontrolled bleeding, major injury, or suspected poisoning
- High fever with stiff neck, confusion, or extreme lethargy
- Pregnancy danger signs (heavy bleeding, severe headache with vision changes, seizures, reduced fetal movement as advised by your clinician)
- Thoughts of self-harm or of harming others
In Nigeria, call local emergency numbers or go to the nearest capable hospital. See our emergency numbers page for quick reference.
