What online doctor consultation does
Daktalink telemedicine connects you with a licensed Nigerian doctor for non-emergency care through the app: structured consult requests, private messaging, and video where your plan and network support it. Doctors can advise on many common outpatient concerns, clarify next steps, and — when clinically appropriate — issue prescriptions or laboratory guidance that you can take to a pharmacy or lab.
Consults happen inside Daktalink so your conversation stays with your account and the clinician assigned to your request.
Who should use it
- Adults needing non-urgent medical advice without travelling immediately
- People who already checked symptoms and want a clinician’s opinion
- Patients following up on mild to moderate issues suitable for remote care
- Users who can describe symptoms, share photos of reports when asked, and follow instructions safely
It is not appropriate when someone needs emergency care, childbirth emergency care, immediate injury care, or hands-on procedures that require a clinic or hospital.
How it works
- Create or sign in to your Daktalink patient account.
- Confirm access — an active patient plan is typically required for paid consults.
- Submit a consult request with your main concern, history notes, and any attachments the form allows.
- Wait for assignment — a verified doctor picks up or is assigned based on availability.
- Message or join video inside your consult workspace, then follow the agreed plan (pharmacy, lab, clinic, or home advice).
What it cannot do
- Cannot replace emergency rooms, ambulances, or in-person critical care
- Cannot guarantee an immediate doctor response at every hour
- Cannot perform surgery, sutures, IV treatment, or other procedures that need a facility
- Cannot force a pharmacy or lab to stock or perform a test — providers confirm independently
- Cannot override local regulations; prescriptions depend on clinical judgement and applicable rules
Privacy and safety
Consult messages and clinical notes are handled as health-related information under Daktalink’s Privacy Policy, Terms, and (for patients) Patient Consent. Use a private device when possible. Do not share your login. Doctors on the platform complete verification workflows before seeing patients.
If your symptoms worsen while waiting for a reply, seek in-person or emergency care — do not wait on the chat alone.
Pricing and payment expectations
Online doctor consultation is a paid pathway on Daktalink for most patients:
- An active patient subscription/plan is usually required to request consults.
- A consult fee may apply per visit in addition to the plan — amounts are shown before you confirm payment.
- Medicines, lab tests, hospital visits, and transport are paid separately to those providers.
Open View plans after sign-in to see current options. If payment fails, your consult may remain unavailable until payment succeeds or support helps you resolve it.
When emergency care is necessary
Do not use telemedicine as your first step when there is:
- Chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe breathing difficulty, or uncontrolled bleeding
- Sudden collapse, seizure, severe allergic reaction, or major trauma
- Labour complications or pregnancy danger signs needing urgent obstetric care
- Severe mental-health crisis or immediate risk of harm
- Any situation where minutes matter more than messaging
Call local emergency services or go to the nearest capable hospital. Keep emergency numbers handy, and use find hospitals when you need a nearby facility.
